Hello Earthlings!
Join Clyborn & Chloe on this new podcast live from San Francisco, CA in Clyborn's new state of the art studio.
This week, our two heroes interview FRANK PERNO & BOB BORGATTI from the highly successful WNY band...REFLECTOR!
FRANK PERNO - (lead guitar, vocals, harmonica)
Frank was born and raised in Tick Bite, North Carolina, where he learned to play guitar at the tender age of three, sitting at the feet of legendary Delta bluesman Blind Pineapple Johnson. When he was 18, Frank moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he formed the seminal glam rock band, "The Rhinestone Johnsons," choosing the name as an homage to his mentor. Although they gained a huge following in local dives and juke joints, the Johnsons never achieved widespread commercial success. Their one notable impact on pop culture was the short-lived fad of Frankenstone shoes in the late '70s. Creative differences over music and cosmetics eventually led to the band's break up. In a daring but desperate career move, Frank embarked on a solo act as "Shinsplints Pete," a pirate ventriloquist with two peg legs and real feet. Unfortunately, the act was a dismal failure, panned by ventriloquists and pirates alike. Frank eventually returned to his first love, music, and hit the road in the early 1980s as one of the founding members of Reflector. Frank's hobbies include taxidermy, hydroponics, and spelunking.
BOB BORGATTI - (bass, keyboards, vocals)
Bob first burst onto the entertainment scene in the 1930s as child actor Spudsy McGrew in the beloved "Klutzy Kidz" comedy films. Sadly, Bob's acting career came to an abrupt end when he reached adolescence and movie audiences began to see him more as a demented dwarf rather than a cute little kid. At the age of 15, Bob bid farewell to Hollywood and boarded a Greyhound bus to New Orleans. There he cultivated enormous muttonchop sideburns and took a job as a fry cook on a tug boat. On weekends and holidays he often entertained the crew by playing merry jigs on his tuba. Soon, word of his musical prowess spread and Bob was asked to play with Crazy Steptoe LePieu and his Continental Gents, a group renowned for their fancy cummerbunds and zany on-stage antics involving coleslaw. Eventually, zany on-stage antics fell out of fashion and the Continental Gents decided to call it quits. Bob moved to Albuquerque where he met the other musicians who would form Reflector. Today, the giant muttonchops are gone and the tuba has given way to an electric bass, but madcap hijinx involving coleslaw often find their way into Reflector shows, much to the delight of audiences.
They sit on the "Couch Of Truth" and chat about their music, their lives and everything in-between. They also bring their music for everyone to enjoy!
Other WNY artists/bands featured are as follows...Natalie Merchant, Tom Dose, Dive House Union, Melissa Sauers, My Big Delicious and The Rod Horning Project.
Plus...A Fan Asks Chloe A Question, Harry Block, Roy Flork and The American Safety Institute.
Don't miss this great show and even greater interview...PEACE!
